JPG to PNG
Save your JPG image in the PNG format.
Choose an image → Adjust → Save
How to use it
- Choose a JPG or JPEG file and check that the preview is the intended image.
- Process the image as PNG without changing its extension manually.
- Download, reopen and compare dimensions. Keep the original JPG if the larger PNG is unnecessary.
Before you start
Converting JPG to PNG does not restore detail lost in the original JPG. The file may become larger.
Common questions
Are JPG and JPEG both supported?
Yes. They are common extensions for the same image format. Choose a .jpg or .jpeg image and download a PNG with the same pixel dimensions.
Will this make the image transparent or improve its quality?
No. Conversion changes the file format; it does not remove backgrounds or restore detail already lost in a JPG. The PNG can be larger than the source image.
A practical workflow
Convert a JPG to PNG when your editing or publishing workflow asks for a PNG file. The picture keeps its pixel dimensions, while the file container and compression change.
Does PNG restore JPG quality or remove its background?
No. Compression artifacts in the JPG are already part of its visible pixels. Converting cannot restore an earlier original or invent an alpha channel. Use the separate background-removal tool for a suitable solid background, and check its limitations first.
