Solid Background Remover
Remove a solid background, touch up edges and save a transparent PNG.
Choose an image → Adjust → Save
How to use it
- Choose one image and select the background color, using the preview picker if necessary.
- Keep edge-connected removal enabled, apply removal and inspect enclosed light details. Adjust tolerance carefully.
- Use erase or restore for touch-ups, process the image, and save PNG to retain transparency.
Before you start
For solid backgrounds, without AI. Up to 20 MB and 12 megapixels. Edge-connected removal helps protect similar colors inside the subject. Complex backgrounds and hair may need manual touch-ups.
Common questions
Are my images uploaded?
No. The files are processed in this browser and are not sent to an image processing server.
What should I check before saving?
Check the preview, output dimensions and format. JPG fills transparent areas with the chosen background color. Download your result before closing this page.
Follow the detailed guide
A practical workflow
A flat-color logo on a solid background is a suitable starting point. This tool removes a selected color rather than recognizing people or objects with AI. The edge-connected option distinguishes outside background from enclosed details of the same color.
Why are hair and complex backgrounds difficult?
Shadows, fine strands and backgrounds with many colors do not form one clean color region. Increasing tolerance can remove parts of the subject too. Try a lower tolerance and manual touch-ups, or use a tool designed for semantic subject segmentation.
Try this original example
White exterior removed; the enclosed white rectangle remains opaque. Select white and keep edge-connected removal on. The saved output is still 720 × 480 PNG.
